Enjoy a soaring and gliding experience naturally fueled by a gradual elevation change at Nantahala Gorge Canopy Tours (NGCT). It takes limited energy to participate and is not designed to scare with big drops as much as excite with smooth gliding. Nantahala Gorge Canopy Tours opened July, 2009 and is the first zipline/canopy tour facility in the area. Each participant is provided with state of the art equipment including helmets, full body harnesses, trolley, gloves, tether lines, and 2 canopy rangers per group.

This Brand New three-hour experience gives you over 1/2 mile of air time with...

  • 3 Sky Bridges and 5 transfer bridges
  • 11 zip line sections alternating between slope side, trees, & elevated platforms
  • A flight into our Eagles Perch, Slingshot, & Elevated Overlook stations
  • Over 20 scenic and unspoiled acres of flying area all within the heavily wooded and scenic setting

More than a zip line ride, this canopy tour takes you through multiple ecosystems, past hemlocks, into hardwoods, and through a deciduous forest packed with native flowering plants such as mountain laurel, dogwood, rhododendron,giant Frazier magnolia, rare umbrella magnolia, silver bells and many more. Your canopy ranger will point out these natural features and will also share with you some of the cultural history of the gorge.

Ocoee River Canopy Tours...Now Open!

Inspired by the Polk County Copper Mines

For those headed to the Ocoee River this summer, you will no longer be left out of the opportunity to experience the adventure of flying on ziplines. Located just 1 mile east of the Ocoee River Basin Adventure Center, our newest canopy tour adventure is scheduled to open late May to early June. Recently purchased over 14 wooded acres just outside of Ducktown that will eventually become part of the Ocoee River Basin Adventure Center with a variety of outdoor adventure programs and services. First on the list is a wooded and tree based canopy tour with 10-12 zipline sections & numerous swinging sky bridges that highlight the vast history and beauty of this once barren landscape. Canopy Rangers will share both the history and the wonder of the recovery of this area from red clay back to deep green forest.

Each participant is provided with state of the art equipment including helmets, full body harnesses, trolley, gloves, tether lines, and 2 canopy rangers per group. This three-hour experience gives you over 1/2 mile of air time with:
